Rep. Shelley Moore Capito represents the people of West Virginia's Second Congressional District in the 112th Congress, where she has been an advocate for a range of policies that directly impact her constituents, including energy independence, quality healthcare and the safety and security of our service men and women. She prides herself on being approachable and accessible to her constituents. She is currently the only woman in West Virginia's congressional
Capito serves on the House Financial Services Committee
as Chairman of the Subcommittee on Financial Institutions and
Consumer Credit. She also sits on the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure - the panel which will direct important highway legislation during the 112th Congress.
The Congresswoman has proudly served West Virginia for more than 12 years, and looks forward to her continued work to improve the lives of every West Virginia.
Eric Trager, the Next Generation Fellow at The Washington Institute, is a Ph.D. candidate in political science at the
University of Pennsylvania, where his research focuses on Egyptian opposition parties. He was in Egypt during the 2011
anti-Mubarak revolts, and his writings have appeared in numerous publications, including the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Foreign Affairs, the Atlantic, and the New Republic.
From 2006-2007, Mr. Trager lived in Egypt as an Islamic Civilizations Fulbright fellow, where he studied at the American University in Cairo and received his M.A. in Arabic studies with a concentration in Islamic studies. He served as a research assistant at The Washington Institute from 2005 to 2006 upon graduation from Harvard University with a degree in government and language citations in Arabic and Hebrew.
