Originally from Portland Oregon, and a graduate of Yeshiva University, B'nai Jacob is Rabbi Victor Urecki's first congregation, and he's been our Spiritual Leader since spring 1986. He is a member of the Rabbinical Council of American, as well as the Chicago Board of Rabbis and is also on the Executive Rabbinical Cabinet of the United Jewish Communities, the largest Jewish philanthropic organization in the world.
Rabbi married his college sweetheart Marilyn, who teaches at B'nai Jacob and Charleston Catholic as well as being the director of our Sunday and Hebrew School programs. Rabbi and Marilyn are the proud parents of Avrah, Chavah, and Zahava["Z"].
As is often found in close knit families, Rabbi's parents [ Jean and Elliot Urecki ] have also moved to Charleston and have become key members of our community.
Rabbi's love of WV's mountains is only surpassed by his love of the beach and is usually found at Hilton Head NC for vacation and time off.
Rabbi Urecki is a contributing editor to the Charleston Gazette, involved locally in interfaith activities and lectures frequently in the area on Jewish/Christian relations.
