We are proud to be a center of Jewish life in Charleston.
We are a congregation affiliated with the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism. As such, we are deeply committed both to traditional Jewish practice and to modern values such as egalitarianism and inclusion. We have been a mainstay of Jewish life in West Virginia since 1894, and plan to be so for many years to come.
We seek to make B'nai Jacob a welcoming space to all who wish to explore their Judaism and to connect with the Jewish community. That includes individuals of all races and ethnic backgrounds, interfaith families, and members of the LGBTQIA+ community.

Services
B'nai Jacob holds Shabbat services every Friday night at 5:45pm and every Saturday morning at 10:00am. In addition, weekday services are held at 5:45pm from Monday through Thursday, and at 7:30am on Wednesday morning. Additional services are held on Jewish holidays. Our services are held in person and can also be accessed via Zoom. Our Shabbat morning services are livestreamed via our YouTube channel, where you can also see recordings of past services.

Youth
During the school year, we have an active Sunday School for children of all ages and a Hebrew School for children approaching Bar/Bat Mitzvah age. Our high schoolers are involved with United Synagogue Youth.

Other programs
Our congregation always has something going on! We have regular classes, holiday programming, an active B'nai Jacob Ladies' Auxiliary, guest speakers hosted by the Men's Club, social gatherings of young adults ("Jews and Brews"), and much more.
